Industrial and treatment-plant intakes work under different conditions from hydropower or drinking-water intakes: continuous operation, exposure to process disturbances, sometimes corrosive water, and downstream equipment (pumps, membranes, instruments, process lines) that is damaged by any debris that passes the screen. Coanda screens give continuous protection with no moving parts to fail.

Protects expensive downstream equipment

Treatment membranes, process pumps, and inline instrumentation can cost ten to a hundred times more than the intake screen that protects them. Coanda screens give consistent debris rejection at a standard 1 mm slot opening, narrower where the process requires it, without the mechanical wear of rotating screens.

Treatment plant intakes and headworks

Water and wastewater treatment plants receive whatever their headworks let through. A Coanda screen at the intake takes leaves, twigs, and coarse solids out before they reach the grit chamber, the membranes and the process pumps, so the solids load reaching the plant is reduced. No electricity is needed at the headworks, which keeps remote and unmanned intakes protected.

Continuous operation

No motors, no bearings, no chains. The screen cleans itself while water flows over it: the flow across the screen face carries debris off continuously, so the intake keeps working between site visits. The remaining maintenance is minimal: a manual clean, typically at season transitions, and a recommended annual inspection.

Materials matched to water chemistry

304 stainless steel as standard for fresh water, 316 or 316L where the chemical composition is more corrosive, Duplex 2205 for brackish process water, and Super Duplex 2507 for high-chloride coastal or geothermal water. Each delivery includes a written material recommendation, confirmed by an engineer for the project.

Modular for retrofit and expansion

Multi-unit arrays cover high-capacity applications; an array of several ADENCO-127 units reaches 6,500 l/s. Add capacity by adding units without rebuilding the concrete intake structure. Technical drawings in 2 business days and delivery in 2 to 4 weeks for standard orders; delivery times for multi-unit tender orders are confirmed with the quotation.

Standard industrial process-water and treatment-plant intakes: 25 to 100 l/s per unit, at 67 l/s per metre of screen width. Up to eight units side by side reach 800 l/s.

Large industrial intakes: 150 l/s per metre of screen width; an array of several units reaches 6,500 l/s.

ADENCO-BOX

A complete, ready-to-install Coanda screen unit in an enclosed housing with an integrated outlet, 5 to 100 l/s. Bolted assembly, fast to install on a treatment plant or industrial site, relocatable to another site later, and it avoids heavy investment in concrete works.
